We’ll Turn Your Napkin Sketches Into 3D-Printed Prototypes

Our 3D product design services cater to both consumer and commercial needs, providing high-quality computer modelling and rapid prototyping. Leveraging state-of-the-art 3D design and printing technologies, we’ll guide you from initial concept design through prototype iteration to final design production, ensuring a seamless transition from idea to reality.

Whether you’re looking to develop a proof-of-concept or test and refine facets of your existing designs, we’ve got you covered.

3D Rapid Prototyping for All Industries

Quickly, affordably, correctly: you can only pick two. So far, that’s been the rule of thumb when it comes to product development, no matter the complexity of your product or the resources of your industry. Our rapid prototyping gives you a way to hit all three points.

We’ve worked with clients in several consumer industries, including:

  • Baby and child products
  • Consumer electronic devices
  • Kitchen and home appliances
  • Audio/visual devices
  • Health and wellbeing products and several more

Our Rapid Prototyping Process

Whether you need a simple model or a complex prototype, our process can handle projects of all sizes and complexities.

Timeframe:

To ballpark expectations, 3D printing a prototype typically takes 1-3 weeks depending on the complexity of the design. As for how long it’ll take to get to the final design, we’ll need to sit down for a consultation first.

Benefits:

  • High-quality 3D modelling and prototyping
  • Quick turnaround times
  • Customised solutions for your specific needs

Ideal if you:

  • You need precise and detailed product prototypes
  • You require rapid prototyping services
  • You want to work with experienced 3D product designers

1

Conceptualisation and Design

First, we use computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop a 3D model of your product. We can even develop a suite of designs to test design variations.

2

Conversion to STL Format

Once the design is completed, we convert it into an STL (stereolithography) file format. STL files represent the object’s 3D surface geometry and ensure the model is compatible with our high-fidelity 3D printers.

3

Slicing and Preparation

We import the STL file into slicing software, which divides the model into thin horizontal layers. This process generates the instructions that the 3D printer will follow to create each layer of the prototype. The slicing software also allows for adjustments in print settings such as layer height, infill density, and print speed, enabling us to control design fidelity and deliverable timelines.

4

3D Printing

Once the G-code is ready, we send the file to the 3D printer, which begins the additive manufacturing process. The printer builds the prototype layer by layer using materials like plastic, resin, or metal. This step may vary in duration depending on the complexity and size of the model.

5

Post-Processing and Finishing

After printing, we may need to remove printed support structures or sand, polish and cure it. These finishing touches ensure the prototype meets your specifications and aesthetic standards.

FAQs

What materials can you use in 3D rapid prototyping?

We can utilise a wide range of materials, including plastics (like ABS, PLA, and nylon), resins, and metals (such as aluminium and titanium). The choice of material depends on the prototype’s intended use, required properties, and budget.

Can 3D rapid prototyping produce functional prototypes?

Yes, 3D rapid prototyping can produce functional prototypes. Depending on the material and technology used, these prototypes can be used for a variety of functional tests, such as fit, form, and performance under different conditions. This allows for a thorough evaluation before proceeding to full-scale production.

How do I get started with your 3D rapid prototyping service?

Getting started is easy! Simply contact us with your project details, including your design files and any specific requirements. We’ll review your submission and meet to discuss the best approach for your prototype. We’ll then guide you through each step of the process to ensure you get the best results for your project.
